I have found very little info on this piece of cr@p?
NE1 know how to hard reset
BTW, It is great having the DEN back

Did you try ato unplug it for a few minutes to see if it resets.

Try one of these.
5th Generation RCA/TCE Soft Reboot Procedure
Press and hold the Info and Right Arrow buttons for 5 seconds until unit powers off
Release buttons
System will re-set itself
To access the Test Menu, press Info and Left Arrow buttons
5th Generation RCA/TCE Hard Reboot Procedure (Model DRD420RE verified)
Remove Access Card
Press and hold the Power and Down Arrow buttons on the receiver simultaneously
Hold for 15 seconds
Unplug the receiver from the wall while holding down the buttons
Hold for 15 seconds
Plug the receiver back in while still holding down the two buttons
Hold for 15 seconds
Turn on the receiver
Press Menu button twice
Re-Insert Access Card when prompted.
If it says card has expired, re-insert it. The receiver should now be turned on. It may be necessary to do this 3-4 times. You may also try it with the card in instead of removed.
OR TRY ALSO
5th Generation RCA/TCE Hard Reboot Procedure (Model DRD420RE verified)
Remove Access Card
Press and hold the Info and Right Arrow buttons on the top of receiver simultaneously
Hold for 15 seconds
Turn on the receiver
Re-Insert Access Card.
The RCA Web site provides the following information for "Re-setting" the receiver...
Soft Reset Procedure
Make sure the receiver is powered on
Press and hold the IRD Power button and Down Arrow buttons simultaneously
Keep them depressed for 2 to 3 seconds
Release the buttons and soft reset is complete
Turn the power back on
Hard Reset Procedure
Unplug the receiver from the wall outlet
Leave it un-plugged for at least 5 minutes
Plug the power cord back in
Hard re-set is complete
RCA Remote Control Reset Procedure
Remove batteries
Press and hold any button for 60 seconds to drain memory
Re-insert batteries and unit should be ok

Is there a list of resets for all makes & models? I did searches but couldn't find it. I know I've seen them somewhere a while back but can't remember. thanks

there is a differance, soft reboot and Hard reboots are different.
Here is how you do them,
REBOOT INFO
RCA Receivers:
1st Generation Soft-Reboot Procedure:-Pull out the Access card. -Hold down the power button and the down arrow button on the receiver at the same time. -Hold for 15 seconds. -Turn on the receiver. -Press select button twice. -Re-insert Access card when prompted. (If it says card has expired reinsert it.)The receiver should now be turned on. It may be necessary to do this over again.
1st Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Take your access card out, hold down the power button and the down arrowbutton on the receiver at the same time.-Hold for 15 seconds.-Unplug the receiver from the wall while holding down the buttons. -Hold for 30 seconds-Plug the receiver back in while holding down the buttons. -Hold for 15 more seconds.-Turn on the receiver.-Press the select button twice.-Re-insert the access card when prompted. You might have to do this procedure a few times if it doesn't work the first time.
2nd Generation Soft-Reboot Procedure:-Take out the access card-Hold down the power button and the arrow down button on the receiver at the same time-Hold for 15 seconds -Turn on the receiver, press the select button twice and put your card in.
2nd Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Turn the receiver power off remove the card unplug the receiver and let it sit overnight.
2nd Method: -Push tv/dss and the arrow down button on the front of your receiver and then go totest button on the screen and push select.-Test will run for 1 minute or so and then it will give you an option to select STOP-On the screen select "stop" (at this time the receiver will do hard-reboot.)
3rd Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Take the access card out.-Press the down arrow and the power button at the same time and hold themdown (you should be on channel 100). -While holding the keys down pull out the power cord from the wall.-While still holding the keys down wait 1 minute and plug the cord back into thewall.-Wait for 15 more seconds let the buttons go. (make sure you are still on channel100).-Put your card back in.
4th Generation Reboot Procedure:-Hold down the top three buttons on the receiver and wait till you get a messagesaying "looking for signal." (You will get some scribbles on the screen and it willbe done.)
5th Generation RCA Soft Reboot Procedure- Press and hold the Info and Right Arrow buttons for 5 seconds until unit powers off- Release buttons- System will re-set itself - To access the Test Menu, press Info and Left Arrow buttons
5th Generation RCA (Model DRD420RE) Hard Reboot Procedure- Remove Access Card- Press and hold the Power and Down Arrow buttons on the receiver simultaneously - Hold for 15 seconds - Unplug the receiver from the wall while holding down the buttons - Hold for 15 seconds - Plug the receiver back in while still holding down the two buttons- Hold for 15 seconds - Turn on the receiver - Press Menu button twice - Re-Insert Access Card when prompted.
Sony Receivers:
Sony Receivers Identification:On the back of the receivers there is a number that goes something like this: SAS-BS1 "1" stands for 1st Generation, If you got "2" it's 2nd Generation etc...
1st Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Push and hold the exit and down arrow button.
2nd Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Push tv/dss and the down arrow button on the front of your receiver.-Go to test button on the screen and push select, (the test will run for 1 minute orso and then it will give you an option to select STOP)-On the screen select "stop." (At this time the receiver will do hard-reboot.)
3rd Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Un-plug the unit for 15 minutes and it should be done.
4th Generation Hard-Reboot Procedure:-Hold down the guide and the down arrow button for 20-30 seconds.If all else fails: (Sony Receivers)-With your card in the receiver, push the 'menu' and arrow down button onthe RECEIVER at the same time. This will bring up a menu.-Choose 'test' on the menu and watch the screen as it cycles through itstest.-When the test gets to the 'eeprom' and says 'testing now', hit both the'guide' and arrow down keys on your receiver and hold them for 30 seconds.-Press these buttons within a split-second of seeing TESTING NOW on the EEPROM. I held for 40 seconds and it worked flawlessly.Your screen should go blank or you will see static.-Let up the 'guide' and arrow down keys' and watch TV
Uniden/Memorex Receivers:
Hard-Reboot Prodedure:-Push and hold the tv/dss and arrow down button on the receiver at the same time and a hidden menu will pop up on the screen. Use your remote to navigate to "reset" button and push select.
Hughes Receivers:
Soft Reboot Procedure:-Press and hold the power button down.-Press the down button, up button, then the down button. -Release the power button and it is done.
Hard Reboot Procedure:-Go to systems menu, installation, system test. -Do a system test. -When done, press up channel button 3 times follow by down channel button 2times.-You will get to a secret screen. There you will find a "Reset button" if you pressthat it will clear out your RAM memory.Note:
**On some Hughes systems when you get to the secret screen you will not find "Reset button" press the power and action button for 15 seconds at the secret screen and it should work.

Thanks to Jerrysr and golfman68, these will c&p well for my records.
This is what worked for me:
5th Generation RCA/TCE Hard Reboot Procedure (Model DRD420RE and NOW DRD430RG verified)
Remove Access Card
Press and hold the Info and Right Arrow buttons on the top of receiver simultaneously
Hold for 15 seconds
Turn on the receiver
Re-Insert Access Card
The Den rocks, I missed our beloved ship, but NOW
she's back!!
