Reciever help

I have an RCA DTC-100 HDTV reciever it was modded to work with an H card when they updated to only work with an HU. I recently demodded the unit and have been using it. It has yet to update to new software version to have local channels in the 0 - 100, nor will it recieve the 110 satellite new programming (ESPN HD, DISCOVERY HD, SHO HD.). Is there any thing i can do to recieve and update? Or did i make a mistake on demodding the unit? Has anyone else demodded thier reciever, with any luck?
