Hi Friend,
I would just like to point out that the OLD DAYS are gone and these are the NEW days. You will find that DTV will be doing the same thing that they did here on all other sites. So save your money because its only a matter of a short amount of time before any site that talks DTV will no longer be able to. In fact with most of them they wont actually have to take action, just threaten it and people know that this will save them a lot of money if they comply. If they do not comply they will have to spend a fortune to argue it in court and the result will be the same as here. So its a lose-lose proposition.
Sorry Bud but thats the way it is now and it wont change for a while until a charter challenge is won, if it ishttp://www.legal-rights.org/images/ttrk.gif

I agree, the days of huge public sites with lots of technical knowledge are gone.
Still, I miss the discussions. I really wish I knew of a place for such discussions.
Ah well, such is life.
Did everyone enjoy Friday's fun? A week's worth in a day for me if I count the late evening.
Feel free to PM if you know of a place to discuss things that doesn't cost.
Anyone know what newsgroups are good could also bang me a note.

I'll respectfully disagree. There are other sites still up and they look much harder to bring down. Being hosted / run in the US or Canada makes it vastly easier to bring down service (until the matter is settled in court) -- versus virtually all other countries. Many countries have no laws against decryption, etc. In many countries, it will be hard for Dave to even file a suit on any ground. They will try to go after major ISP's etc. but that is a losing battle as the sites use redirectors to jump from IP address to IP address.
I think non-North American sites will stay up for a long time. And they will take over if the North American court battles don't work out.

Hi Guy,
Well if they were actually offshore sites with offshore admins you would be OK but unfortunately, these "offshore" sites are only offshore as far as the server goes. But they are administered from North America and that means the Admin and whomever runs the site can be grabbed and charged in Canada or the States.
The Innermatrix site was in Hong Kong with the supposed owner there also. But it took about two minutes to turn crumm around because he really ran the site from Saskatchewan. Other sites that are set up the same way will have the same results, unfortunately.
Go and tell the members there, whose info is now in DTV's hands, that the site is offshore. They will tell you it made no difference at all. So people DO NOT think you are OK because the site is offshore. If YOU are not offshore and neither is the one running it then you are both succeptable to the law HERE and not there.
If you like living dangerously and don't care if you get sued, then by all means do your thing. But if you are not in that position then do yourself a favor and STAY AWAYhttp://www.legal-rights.org/images/ttrk.gif

Most of your really good info has gone underground (like in the old days) but I can think of one trully offshore site that is up and running. Please no PMs, seek and ye shall find.
