119 floating to 101

I heard a while back dtv was supposed to move the 119 sat over to 101. Does anyone know when this is supposed to happen? And do they have future plans for the 119 spot?

They recently moved Directv1 from 110 to 101, maybe that's what you are thinking about? According to Lyngsat, there is currently only 1 Directv bird located at 119, and obviously they wouldn't abandon that slot, since there are tons of programming that travels through there.

Directv 7s is due up later this year, but I can't recall if it's going to 101 or 119.

AT 119 for DTV you had DirecTV5 and DirecTV6

AT 110 for DTV you had DirecTV1

AT 101 for DTV you had DirecTV 1-R, 2 & 4S


NOW;
DirecTV6 is going / has gone to 110
DirecTV1 is going / has gone to 101
DirecTV2 is going to the scrap orbit

If memory serves me right, DirecTV 1 only has 16 transponders. I wonder why they are moving their oldest ( and 1st ) satellite back to 101 instead of moving 5 or 6, unless its a fuel issue ( more fuel to move a sat from 119 to 101 than 110 to 101 )

I also remember that 2 of the satellites DirecTV owns, were purchased as part of the primestar deal. I think thats where DirecTV 5 & 6 came from. They also inherited the 119 transponder slots as part of that deal.
