Here is the situation. I live about 80miles from a large city that offers local channels on DirecTV. When i plug in my zip code on the website I realize I am uneligible to receive their local channel
programming. The only option I have is the rabbit ears (poor quality)
or basic cable package (another monthly bill). Theoretically
speaking... couldn't I call DTV up and tell them I had just moved and
give them an address in the city. I planned on using my uncle's home
address since he has lived there in the city for twenty years. He has
never had DTV, only cable. So if DTV were to reference the address I
give them they would see that it is a valid address in the city and
there is currently no other subscriber with that address so everything
looks legit. I mean they don't physically send anyone out to the house
to "check things out" if I claim I have hooked up my own satellite
a.k.a. self installation do they? I receive my bills online so the
mailing address wouldn't be an issue either. Has anyone else tried
this before? Is there any penalities or violations for trying this? I
dont see the harm if I'm paying DTV the extra $5/mnth for a service
that i can already receive in the inferior analog format from other
sources.
