i'm planning on installing directv system
is there any gadget out there that would give me the exact location to place the dish

i would like to buy direct way with internet connection is it possible anyway they would let me install it myself

For the directway install you have to be certified and liscensed to set them up. The main reason being it transmits and recieves. Even if you were to get one and managed to install it yourself they would not activate it due to the regulation that requires a certfication number of the installer be listed on the initial service activation paperwork.

Use the included instructions :) With your zipcode the instructions (usually on a menu in the ird) will give you a bearing to point the dish to, using a compass take a walk around the area you wish to install and find an clear view of the sky in the bearing given for your zipcode...

Or you can simply just look in the southern direction and find a good area...

Yes and no, if you buy it locally they will probably require you to have it installed, if you by it over the Internet from another state several of the Internet companies request "that you find a local installer to do the install"

But as stated above you are supposed to be licenced by the FCC to do the install, and might run into some issues upon activation... Although I have read many reports of people "purchasing at garage sale" and doing the install, and with a little BS getting it activated...

For clarification, 1 way Direcway systems can be installed by the end user with no problems, but 2 way systems need to be professionally installed. Hughes will usually only activate a 2 way system after confirming that a certified installer set it up.

i know someone who is certified but they are in another place, will that be possible to have them call it in what are the activation procedure is it the same thing like directv where you have to just call it in do you need a phone line and all that stuff to setup/activate
