Can you use American DTV receivers for Latin American DTV?

Sorry for posting on this board, i know there is a board that addresses directv americas, but it's not too active, so i thought i would try my question here.

I wanted to know which american dtv receivers work with dtv americas (latin america). i bave american sony box that i get a signal strength with, but no service with the latin american access card. Any ideas. i want a tivo box to use with this service, which we can't currently get form our local service providers, and wanted to know if any will work with this latin american service.

It is my understanding that USA DirecTV boxes use a different internal system than DirecTV LA boxes. Apparently they use a different type/version of the CAM

On a footnote, I'm very interested in either opening a DirecTV LA card for all programmes or purchasing a card that gives all programming from Puerto Rico
