Just wondering if anyone can tell me whats goin on now? Whats the deal with everything? Which way to go?

Kind of a broad question do you not believe so? The truth of what is going on is mostly tied up in the legal repercussions, more then anything else. DTV is continuing its efforts on the legal fronts and as you can see this site has been one of the main targets. The issues are still being fought and it probably will still be some time before anything is more definite. In the mean time we all comply with the rules.

As far as for which way to go, well that is a decision you need to make on your own. There are many things out there but most of that is not really all that reliable. DTV has relaxed a bit on the ECM front, but they are still going to hit often enough to make things a pain for most, unless you are into doing things for yourself, and that is where DTV is concentrating their legal efforts, so you need to be aware that you could be making yourself a part of the target objective. Now yes many will say that the risk is small, others will say it is large enough to not make it worth while. So there in lies the debate.

Search through the site for all the legal aspects and then make your decision. Only you know your situation and risk factor, so only you can say where the bar is set.
