I have a stock UTV set that seems to have developed a hard drive problem. I bought a used UTV from ebay but it arrived with a failed tuner.

Would appreciate comments or ideas comparing my two options:
1) swap the drives. Take the working drive from the box with a bad tuner and replace the bad drive in my stock box.
2) just buy a new drive for my original UTV and do the drive upgrade drill found here.

For clarity, I have a P4 card and a US DirectV account.

If it was me, and I have reprogrammed the UTV's, I would take out the defective drive, and just replace it with a bigger drive. I believe they will take up to a 120 gig(which comes empty). Make sure and stick with western digital though. All you have todo is to put a completely empty drive in, and plug in phone line. It will dial up and download utv software. Do Not take the hard drive that works and plug it into the working reciever without zeroing out the drive. The drives marry themselves to the equipment, so doing will not work. You may try using the western digital diagnostics, and doing a low level format if you must use the old drive, but I have found the mdh3 program works best for zeroing drives. Good Luck.
