I have a customer that has his house wired for 10 sat irds in his home. Up till this time, I have a SPAWN AMPlifier. Which is good for powering up 16 irds. I am now told That he wants DISH NET also. We origianlly planned on Directv. So I havn't yet installed a dish yet.

Question

Can I install ONE High Definition Dish and get both DISH and DTV with any extra switches?? Just trying to make the install look clean on the outside of the house... There will be a terrestial antenna in the attic out of sight. He will have almost all HD dtv boxes and the only reason for the DISHNET is for the new HD TIVO that is coming out.

I know that there was a link or site that had this done before. I just can't seem to remember where it's at. I belive it was a site for all diferent kinds of dish configurations. Been a couple of years since I seen it. Could have been a oval DISHNET dish with a certain amount of switches and a sat c kit strapped on the side or something like that.

Question

Is this a good idea? Or just install two dishes ?

Thanx,

ps. I have an entire crestron vantage plasma system in this house, so asthetics far outweigh the $$. Just don't want to slap two dishes on the house if I really really don't HAVE to.!?

While BOTH DSS services use VOLTAGE to switch between EVEN and ODD transponders SATELLITE switching is done differantly. DTV uses a constant 22khz tone while DiSH uses DiSEqS type serial commands.

DTV SATS are at 101 110 and 119 While DisH has their main SATS at 110 and 119.

DTV also uses a NON STANDARD LNB for the 110 SAT reception. The SAT C LNB is only designed to receive transponders 28,30 and 32 and down convert those to the signal equivalent of transponders 8,10 and 12 which are then added with the EVEN transponders from the 119 SAT.

if you want all DTV SAT reception and ALL DiSH SAT reception You can't get there from here. You need TWO dishes and the DiSH cabling has to be separate from the DTV cabling
