Multiswitch with elliptical dish

Hello-

I am hoping someone can provide me some guidance. I have a two satellite elliptical dish with a channel master multiswitch installed on the dish. Is it possible to place a second multiswitch downstream, driven by one of the feeds off of the existing multiswitch?

Won't work off of one cable. You need two cables into the multiswitch for it to do it's job. There may be issues with doing any more splitting down the line without adding expensive "stackers" or "cascadeable multiswitches". I tried it with a phase 3 dish and learned that I lose a satellite all together. Multiswitches are pretty cheap these days. Can you go with a switch with more outputs?

if the dishes are MULTI-LNB and elliptical for MULTISAT viewing you need

1) A CASCADEABLE multiswitches to pass the SAT switching "TONE" non-cascadeable switches don't pass the SAT switching tone and you will not be able to switch to the second SAT.

2) ALL 4 output lines of the original multiswitch must be connected to the downstream CASCADEABLE multiswitch.

The reason being for FOUR IRDS to independently receive individual programming you have 4 separate signals to consider. Thus each downstream MULTISWITCH need FOUR lines connected to it

SAT 1 ODD channels requires 13V sent to the LNB
SAT 1 EVEN channels requires 18V sent to the LNB
SAT 2 ODD channels requires 13V /+ [TONE] sent to the LNB
SAT 2 EVEN channels requires 18V /+ [TONE] sent to the LNB

What about a dish that picks up 3 sats (3 LNB Heads and a integrated 4 port multiswitch)? Any way to hook up more then 4 recievers

Yes, just use a 5x8 multi-switch, run 4 cables from the dish to the multi-switch (the 5th input is for an off-air ant.), hook the 4 cables to the 4 satellite inputs on the 5x8 switch, it won't matter what order you use the "integrated 4 port switch" will assign the correct satellites.
