My UTV failed, one of the tuners will no longer lock. I had a 120 GB Hard disk in the unit and I love having a lot of recording space. I got a replacement unit from Directv, but of course it has the small 40 GB drive.I unlocked my 120 GB Western Digital Hard Drive that was in the old unit using MHD3 software and erased the entire drive by writing zero's to it using Western Digital software.I then installed it into the new UTV.
The new UTV will call into Microsoft for the update, but always disconnects before it is complete. It is a vicious cycle. I went ahead and bought a new drive thinking that that might be the problem and still MSN disconnects before the download is complete. Now I am stuck, the 40GB drive that came with the new unit will no longer boot. I keep getting blinking lights and my 120 GB will not download version 3.7.
:cool:I have version 3.7 image downloaded, but how do I get that to the drive without having to dial into MSN? I read about winhex, but before I spend the cash, is it pretty easy to do? If someone could give me some pointers as to how to do it I would be grateful!!!!![/B]

After nobody answered my post I realized that my question was probably answered already. Duh!!
Thank you for the info Herculito!
I went ahead and purchased winhex and copied version 3.7 to the drive. Everything seemed to go smooth and I do have the UTV up and running again.
However, it only shows recording time of up to 35 hrs, even though I installed a 120 GB hard Disk.
I choose the physical drive for winhex to do the file cloning.
Is that where I went wrong? Should I have chosen the logical drive which was NTSF formatted?

Sounds like you cloned the entire original image to the new 120 drive. If that's correct then your dvr partition is still sized for the 40g drive. What you need to do is clone only the 32meg image and nothing else. When you start up your utv it will create the partitions for you with the new correct size.

I'm in need of a 3.7 image if you care to share.
