1) BRAND new 3 LNB TERK dish
2) Sony A65 reciever
3) 100ft TERK RG6 cables
Ok, I am having some major problems here and I can't seem to pinpoint down what's going on.
I live in an apartment, so the landlords prohibit any mounting. I have a 5-gal bucket w/ a pole in concrete, this thing isn't gonna even budge. I have it shimmed to dead on levels for the mast. It doesn't wobble or move. I have a hand -held sat finder meter (a la ebay $10 job). I have successfully used it to hook up another system, so I know it works. After gettin on the roof MANY times and MANY different positions to try and shoot through whatever small holes in the trees I can get, I cannont get a signal. There are other directv systems that are in my same building area and have more trees in the way than I do. However the best I have been able to get is SatC/Trans8 at 100% and 0% on all the other Sat's. The guide was available, just no pitcure (trying to find the signal message) when I tried to view a selected channel. The preview channels do not work either. It looks like I have everything setup right in the reciever, 3lnb..zip...etc...but alas I am about ready to just give up. Can anyone help me or give me some tips that might point me to where I am going wrong?
The dish has a built-in multi-switch, so it shouldn't matter what port (there are 4) that I have the coax hooked up to? I have my short coax (so I can use the sat finder) hooked up to 2nd 3rd ports.
When I am in the sat finder meter screen there is a message that says my cabeling my be incorrect, reguardless if I have the finder hooked into the line or not when I am trying to aim the dish. Any ideas, I have brand new TERK RG6 100' cables that I bougt from Circuit City. Both give me the same error. However, I was still able to get the SatC signal to 100% and at least get the guide, but no actual picture.
Any ideas? Please help! I am at my wits end. Thanks in advance. Also, if you have some links to other threads, that would be great (or other sites).
