Hello to all- have been reading through the posts - most interesting - Have not seen my scenario- This is it in a nutshell:
I have a dual LNB with a 18" dish with a primary and secondary receiver ,with seperate cables into the units.I will at times not receive signal on the even transponders of the primary. I go to the secondary receiver and check the signal strength and it is above 80 on both the odd and evens I then place the secondary receiver on the local or premium channels (884-89x) or 500's - The signal on the primary unit's even transponders immediately jumps to +80. Change the channel off and the signal immediately drops to 0. I have swapped the cables at the LNB and the also replaced the LNB with the same results. Kinda driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.

same here
just discovered
i wasnt watching directv for couple of month or even more
had to check wiring, because in the begining there were no signal at all

what i did basically was that i disconected all intermidiate wires and some spliters and tiny amps
cause i suspected bad connection

after i was done with it
i found that some channels work

and
no odd transponders show strength

even are all over 90!!!!!

called CS Directv,
was transfered 3 times, told that a technition may be needed
(i live in a building in manhattan)

got tired waiting on hold

tomorow i am going to try to return the previous setup

we may have the same problem

my equipment is from 1998-99

EVEN transponders require that the LNB gets 18 volts from the IRD
ODD tranponders require that the LNB gets 13 volts from the IRD
At the SAT in cable connection check for a cycling voltage between 18 and 13 Volts with the unit on and the cable disconnected.

Loss in EVEN transponders is more than likely a bad cable or connection but
could also be bad LNB or IRD

Thanks for the replies. Tried all the new connectors and still had pretty much the same issue. A bit of moisture in the air and the sig would crap out. Finally got tired of it and went out cut down some trees that were in the way and repositioned the dish much closer to the house. Now all sigs are over 85 with a couple a strong 100. Guess I should have gotten fed up sooner than later. again thanks for the replies.
