Is it possible to change the serial number on a series 1 DTivo by editing tivoapp and irdSerialNumber? There was a post on DD that directed me to this site and threadid=31522, but it will not let me pull it up. Can anyone help?

WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE SERIAL NUMBER?
SERIES 1 DTIVOS DONT HAVE RID #'S SERIES 2 DTIVOS DO HAVE RID #'S WHICH NEED TO BE CORRECT AND ARE ENTERED TO THE CARD BY DIRECTV

No need to patch tivoapp
1. #crypto -gsn (to show TSN, Tivo Service Number)
2. #crypto -u -ssn XXX (to change TSN), where 'XXX' is TSN
3. Reboot
4. After reboot you'll get Error #51. You'll need the 51killer.tcl script from DDB
Run it and reboot again
Not sure about Deuce1957's comment (that the RID# is programmed onto card).
AFAIK, only the IRD Serial# is put on the card. For DirecTivos, notice the System Information Screen shows both the TSN and the IRD S/N (which is derived from the TSN). As long as the TSN matches, the card should work in another S1 or S2.
