There are commercials on Sirius, just like XM, just not on the music channels. All the other channels have them.

As far as testing the signal, I have tried much research in the matter but there doesnt seem to be much interest in it....

I am very disappointed that there are so many commercials on Sirius. It's like old broadcast radio. I don't care if its for a website, another channel, or some vendor...they are all annoying, loud, commercials.

"Commercial-free" is misleading in the advertising.

urgh.

Are you joking? The music stations are commercial free. Yes there is a DJ, but even the DJ talk is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY toned down compared to old fashioned FM radio. I couldn't listen to local radio anymore and had turned mostly to talk and news radio because of commercials, limited playlists that repeated the same songs over and over, and annoying DJ's who thought they were funny but weren't. Sirius has me listening to more than just my CD collection again. Plus the fact the reciever tells you the name of the song/artist...that totally rocks. I am being exposed to music I would have never had the chance to hear just listening to local FM.

Yes there are commercials on the talk stations. If it is a Serius exclusive show then there are way less commercials than the equivelent show would have on old fashioned radio. Stern went from 21 mintues of commercials per hour to about 3 minutes per hour. If it is a show that is sindicated from old fashioned radio like Rush Limbaugh then there will be as many commercials as FM radio because Rush doesn't talk extra for the people hearing the broadcast on sattelite...in this instance unfortunately, you are forced to have as many commercials as they have on old fashioned radio. Fortunately these shows are in the minority and after hearing other shows with fewer to no commercials you realize how lame old fashioned radio really is.

I believe the advertising is "100% commercial-free music...." which is what Sirius has. It is not misleading. Channels that are not Sirius exclusives (CNN, ESPN, etc.) have commercials on their feeds and Sirius cannot magically fill in that space with more program.
The commercial free music channels rock, and I'm satisfied with the extremely limited interruptions in the Stern show.
