How do they get four outputs from 3 LNBs? I guess I need to understand how the integrated multi-switch is connected on both sides - anybody got a schematic or a good description?

the 3 lnb feed in to the switch ...the switch has 4 outputs for rec.... the sw switches the rec to the correct lnb for the programming you set on the rec

Each LNB is receiving programming from separate satellites. The 4x4 multiswith combines all satellites and gives you 4 ports that now can be used to access programming from any satellites at anytime depending on what channel you are watching. simple.
