I am currently looking into purchasing a XM MiFi however I have had a few retailers indicate that Sirius gets better reception in central BC than XM does. Some have said that XM will cut out in a number of locations even in cities such as Kelowna and through the Rogers Pass (rocky mountains).

Does anyone have any info to either confirm or disconfirm the above? I prefer the XM hardware to the Sirius but I don't want static or cutting out reception either.

There are a few spots that cut out, mostly heavily treed and mountainous areas where you are close to the mountain. For the most part, it works great.

I had a XM system installed on my truck and got great reception in BC and AB, very little problems.

Sirius satellites are higher in the sky due to their inclined orbit, so yes, you may get better reception in some areas where it will cut out.

It basically comes down to programming content. The costs are similiar, both in equipment and in programming, XM has a bit better sound quality than Sirius, however Sirius has more "Character" programming like Stern etc.
