I joined this group for one reason only: give hope to any who are having issues with their Sirius Sat reception.
I live in north Texas with a clear shot to the NW sky from my rural home. I mounted the standard (with the Sportster portable boombox) antenna at the end of the standard cable on an eave of my 1-story roof. My signal was registering less than 20%.
I purchased from Best Buy (also at Radio Shack) the Terk brand 50ft extension cable (Cost was $39+). Since I didn't need the extension to get to my roof location after all, I put the new extension cable in the closet.
After reading a post in this forum, I dragged it out and just hooked it up between the receiver and the standard (thinner) supplied cable/antenna. I merely neatly coiled the extension cable (all 50 extra ft) and mounted it on a hook near the radio. The signal was increased to 100% according to the receiver's signal strength display.
I believe this has solved the irritating signal loss issue since I bought the radio. Adding the additional 50ft of (thicker) cable and the coupler at the end (a signal amp?) did the job.
Good luck. :)
