freei.net used to be a fairly decent free server. You need to have Internet Explorer 5. To get rid of the banners, simply enter the info manually into your dial up networking, and log on that way rather than clicking on the icon that is downloaded to your desktop.

Lately, since freei.net started advertising on tv and such, it is pretty tough to get connected and stay connected. Its not bad for a backup server though.

Wasn't there someone here who busted the AltaVista banner? (You know who you are) If you read this, send me a PM. I'd like to get rid of that dang thing.

Netzero is having people update to the latest version and they have been able to tell if they are blocking the banner ad. I also heard that freeInet has fixed the no banner thing. I ended up going through Netzero, Juno and Bluelight after Freewwweb went out of business. Way to many people using them to make them worth while. Ended up going back to AOL (only for the speed of access).

I like paying $21.95 for free tech support 24/7/365, no banner ads, speed, nice people, and a feature rich service. It really is a bargin.
