Hi All,
What advantages (if any) does the S50 home kit provide that an
ac/dc adapter doesn't?
Thanks for any info,
Don

I went with hooking another auto kit up in my home for the S50. I haven't
even seen the home kit (because they've been in such short supply) so my
comments are based on what I've read about them.
Advantages of using the auto kit inside the home:
1. Auto kits are available, home kits are very hard to come by.
2. Dunno if the home kit includes another remote control or not (probably
does). Mobile kit did, so I can have one remote in the home & the other in
my auto.
3. Much greater flexibility with the Sirius audio by using the auto kit's FM
transmitter, so I (& neighbors I've told) can listen in on numerous radios
throughout the homes, including a shower radio, etc. The home kit has no
FM transmitter, so you're stuck carting the whole thing around to different
rooms, or cranking the volume. Speaker fixed-placement on the home kit
provides limited stereo audio separation.
4. Keep in mind with either adaptor, you're still going to have to route the
coax for an external antenna. I think in most cases you get better
flexibility in terms of where you locate the unit -- my S50 with the auto
kit in my home is conveniently located by a window, which is NOT where I'd
want the audio to be emanating from...

I have one.. Here's the bulk of it.
1> One touch S50 connection to the computer. The dock has a computer
connection and you can press a button to link it to the PC. Once you
eject it in My Sirius Studio, it goes back to the radio screen. Also,
you can listen to your current channel while connected to the computer.
2> Being able to listen at home, obviously, without needing to
transport your car kit indoors.
3> The S50 can't turn itself on to schedule in the car kit, but can in
the home kit.
4> Another remote. The Home kit comes with a remote.
5> Charging - If you use the computer to charge the S50 you can't turn
it off (if you try it'll turn itself back on). The S50 in the home kit
can be turned off and still charge.
The Home kit came with a cable so I could plug the S50 right into my
Line in on my sound card. That way I can use the same speakers for
both the S50 and the computer. (It also comes with a RCA Left+Right
cable too). However, it also has a passthru on the cradle so you're
not giving up your Line-In (if you happen to use it for iPod, etc.).
For 99 bucks I think it's a decent rig. My S50 Car Kit is installed in
the vehicle, so taking it out would be a headache.
