I'm not sure you do.
You do realize a higher traffic rank is a bad thing, right? And that XM's
traffic rank is
3 mo avg = 1513
1 wk avg = 1810
today = 1991
while SIRI's traffic rank is
3 o avg = 1130
1 wk avg = 1905
today = 2931
You get that, right? You notice the sharp increase in SIRI's traffic
ranking, right?
As I said, I'm not sure you know what I mean...

When the ''Alexas'' come out, the boredom factor is high.

Tell me what it means when 15% of the viewers of sirius.com go to
shop.sirius.com and 5% of the XMradio.com viewers do the same at
shop.xmradio.com. TIA .

Sure. I think I've explained this in this thread once before, but I don't
mind doing it again.
shop.sirius.com (and shop.xmradio.com) are "subdomains" of their respective
domains, sirius.com and xmradio.com.
Alexa tracks visits to subdomains (like shop.*.com) only if they are linked
to from outside the basic domain. So, if someone visits xmradio.com then
navigates to shop.xmradio.com, Alexa doesn't know that; it records it simply
as a link to xmradio.com.
Simply put, there are more people clicking DIRECTLY to shop.sirius.com from
outside links. Why? Because there are more outside links directly to this
subdomain.
For example, if you look at the following:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGGL%2CGGGL%3A2005-09%2CGGGL%3Aen&q=link%3A+shop.xmradio.com&btnG=Search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGGL%2CGGGL%3A2005-09%2CGGGL%3Aen&q=link%3A+shop.sirius.com&btnG=Search
You will see that there are many more links directly to shop.sirius.com than
to shop.xmradio.com. This may be due, in part, to the fact that Sirius uses
an Internet affiliate program to attract visitors to its site while Xm
doesn't. Sirius pays those few sites that generate an actual subscriber $40
for the link. The numbers are small.
I do not discount the alexa statistics at all. But it is important to know
what you're getting (and not getting) before you attach too much
significance to it. The shop.*.com percentages are of no real analytical
value on either of these sites. The reach figures are telling. The rank
figures are telling. Other information is selectively useful.
Neither company should be pleased with the drop in consumer interest during
the last month. But Sirius has to be particularly concerned with the
magnitude of its drop.
I'll be glad to answer any further questions you have.

How much will XM pay GM for the next 5 years and how does that compare
to Sirius' deal with Stern?

XM will get at least 2-3x the number of subs per dollar spent as Sirius does
for Stern.

Hate to tell you this, Richie, but if he's smashing mine he's smashing
yours...maybe you ought to ask him what he thinks about Sirius LOL.

PCSTEL & I were discussing this subject before you knew what SDARS is.
And I don't mind telling you, he knows a ----load more about the subject
than you do. He is very strong about subscriber models, just doesn't
understand the basic accounting behind it.
He also shorted XM at $9 a share and is still underwater on it.

No, I just don't discuss this ---- with people I agree with.
I don't need the cheerleading to feed my confidence like siriots do.

I see you changed the subject 3 times in 3 posts.
You seem to be having a little trouble staying on message today ... a
little rattled, are you?
You are a gas. Ignorant as hell, but fun to make an idiot of. Not
that it takes much work.

Absolutely nothing. XM is sold at several online sites that offer
better prices, equipment and service than the official site. Tell me
what it means when XM has twice the number of subscriberts as Sirius.

Well now that you asked, it means XM has gone from a 12:1 lead to less
than 2:1 with Sirtius breaking the 1,000,000 new subscriber mark last
quarter (first time by either company). This tells me Content is King.
Don't you agree?

This tells me Sirius blew its wad on Howard Stern and his minions migrated
in December and now it is O-V-E-R.

And since your typical Stern fan has no friends there will be zero
word of mouth secondary subscribing.
