Is it possible to subscribe to only the HD channel from directv ? I am currently subscribed to directv total choice plus package but will soon be switching over to digital cable once it becomes available as it is much cheaper. To my knowledge there will be no HDTV channels available which seems weird to me since it is a fiber optic cable (but we are rural america with a population of a few hundred.). Anyway what I was wondering is is it possible to subscribe to only the HD channels from directv without the total choice package ? Or is there another place where I could do that ? The only channel that I HAVE to have is the discovery HD theatre other then that its all a bonous.

it seems very odd to me that you local cable company doesn't have HD channels. As a friend not a directv dealer your gonna miss the picture and sound of your directv. The (so called) digital cable is only digital on the premiums ie HBO or Showtime, ya know broadcasters like that. only aobut 10% is digital

nope there is no way dtv is going to get just an hd package.... because they just got rid of the "HD Package" its now an access fee that way when they get the 100 or so channels the price wont rise at least thats how it was explained to me.
