XM is apparently picking up a Clear Channel terrestrial station.

This is correct, starting next week, "the Nations Station".

I can't wait to hear breaking news stories like this:

Warren County Boil Water Advisory

Weekend water work.
By 700WLW News
Wednesday, February 22, 2006
On Saturday, people in one Warren County neighborhood will need to boil
their water before using it. The Warren County Water and Sewer
Department plans some work on the water lines, starting Saturday
morning, at 4am.

The boil advisory will affect residents on Union Road, between SR 122
and Greentree Road, all residents along Hendrickson Road and Woodwind
Road.

This is just something that had to happen for reasons unrelated to content.
Expect it to be minimal bandwidth and to disappear after a predetermined
period of time. And to receive little focus from XM.

The new classic rock station is going to free up Top Tracks to be much more
selective and that should be a good thing.

The important thing is that XM's music leadership will be clicked up a
notch.

How so? By adding a commercial rich Clear Channel terrestrial station?
You would defend a convicted child rapist if XM were his initials.

XM has ''music leadership'' only in the minds of a few burnouts.
People do not, as a rule, get excited about Blodwyn Pigg and Spooky
Tooth.

Rich:

Please see my post below. " Gary Burbank" has to be the
reason for the agreement. He is not well known outside of
Ohio and Kentucky, but he is one of the best in the business.

No. As I indicated, this channel is incidental. It is, by all accounts, an
excellent channel -- but XM is running it for reasons unrelated to content.

But the other channel additions to be announced tomorrow will give XM a
further advantage over Sirius in the music area.

As has been previously pointed out to you guys, Sirius shot its wad on
Stern. XM is now in a position to continue adding content. In addition,
because of XM's superior technology they are able to add more content and
still sound better than Sirius. So hang on, it just keeps getting better
(remember, two channels will be going surround later in the month).

Defend? WTF are you talking about? XM keeps on rolling over you nitwits.
It is fun to watch.

BTW, I noticed you aren't bragging quite so much about that swimming pool
full of cash these days...

>>>WTF are you talking about?

Sirius' vastly superior content, flawlessly executing management (none
of the BOD's have quit and the Sirius CEO is buying not selling like
Penero), superior technology and the best performing stock price in the
category. But most of all Sirius has all the buzz and it is cool to
own Sirius.

That must be why so many people have been buying it lately.

Having every single MLB game alone makes XM a much better value than
Sirius.

Maybe CC is paying for placement on the birds and will allow XM to sell
advertising during the local breaks. Think "cash cow."

You're getting warm. Years ago, CCU owned shares in XM (they actually still
do, but their position was hedged a couple years ago, and they lost their
seat on the board at that time). At any rate, XM had a contract with CCU
that required XM to run certain CCU programming, etc. This is the
culmination of legal wrangling/arbitration surrounding that contract. It is
just something XM will have to do for a while.

If XM can't sell commercials on the rest of the talk programming, I
really doubt they can sell commercials on some hillbilly AM radio
station out of East Bumfuck, Ohio.

Looks like this may be the only place we'll be able to discuss this. The guy
who runs xmfan.com just posted that he's received a cease-and-desist order
from XM's legal team ordering him to shut down and remove all speculative
threads on XM's future programming. Quite a ruckus going on on the board
right now!

This has got to be the most stupid freaking thing I've ever seen.

Apparently all the Jacor pieces aren't yet in place. Did the Enquirer
get a similar demand letter?

Maybe it is not the lawyers, but yet another board memeber threatening
to quit the Parsons blitzmoneykreig. I think I am going to get a bag
