Hi - this problem has gotten progressively worse in the last few months. I do not get all the direct tv channels that are on even transponders? What makes it worse is that the channels will come on sometimes and then go away halfway through the program - I have read some discussion about multiswitches and LNB's - however I have no idea what all that means - I'm currently living with a room mate and he gets all channels fine - Can someone please help me fix this!!

If anyone has a way I can get the even channels and not the odd ones that would also be good since most of the channels I watch (ESPN) are on even - also if you know a way that my tv works fine and my roomates gets messed up that wouldd also be ok since he is out a lot and I could keep switching around - If you can help my setup as far as I know is as follows - keep in mind I have no idea aboout LNB's and such - thanks..

My satellite dish has two cables going into it (and coming out) there is only space for two cables - these then connect to a two way splitter which goes into my wall and I plug in a cable to my wall outlet to my receiver. I tried switching the two cables going in to different positions with no effect.
Please Help!!! thanks

The problem may be with your receiver. If you can, try borrowing your roommate's receiver and try it on your cable. If that works, then something is wrong with your receiver. If it does the same thing that yours does, the problem is out on the LNB, the multiswitch (if there is one) or possibly a bad cable. It's best to try one thing at a time and try to isolate the problem to the smallest possible number of things.

Good Luck!

in most cases a SPLITTER is a no .. no .. in satellite
if you have a dual lnb & only 2 rec. you dont need to split the signal or use a multi switch
go into you menu in the dish setup section & check the transponders.. you
should get signal or readings on all but 5 or so ...see if you get even & odd
transponders... chech the high & low transponders go to channel 490 or 491 & check there also

Get rid of the splitter, you can't use a regular splitter with the high frequency that the satellite dish uses. You need a multiswitch or a 22khz switch to split the feeds off to a second receiver.

If the splitter is not causing it, bad cables/connections, a blown LNBF can also cause the same problem. To check the LNBF, try isolating each of the 2 connections to a single receiver. If one side does not work, you have found your problem.

I suggest for you to use High Pass Cable Filter that may help your problems. You can have more information about the advantages of having a filter installed in your box in this site. Check it out: CableBoxFilters com
