And what exactly is the content of Playboy Radio? Do I get a verbal
detailed description of this month's centerfold, down to the where the
staple is?

Fair deal different than on XM when it was TV refeeds for the majority
of content.

The response has been pretty positive over on places like Sirius
Backstage. I'm pretty surprised actually.

Why wouldn't I? I got the information I was requesting, and the link was
appreciated as the Sirius web site was not very detailed as to what was
going to be broadcast on that channel. I still see no reason to go to the
trouble of opt-ing in, but then I really don't listen to any talk channels
(other then the two comedy channels) anyway, just not my interest. I am
glad to know that the diversity in channel types do exist though.

Now I have to go check my trap since you did say it was closed, hopefully
there will be rabbit for dinner.

I did solely because it was free to do so but didn't see the point in
having a channel not activated.

That was not up when they first announced the opt-in for the playboy channel
or at least not in an easily navigated page.

Are you always this confrontational or just having a bad day? (The "crow"
bit was funny though).

I am going through the process of hiding the channels I don't use , just so
I don't have so many on my menu/cycle that I have to scroll through.
Opt-ing into one that I would just hide anyway didn't make much sense.

Yeah they added it with the other channels around noon yesterday.
Playboy has had their lineup on their site for over a month. That's
why I had the link handy is because I wanted to know how much of their
content would be radio oriented.

Sirius used to be slower at this, took them until the evening of the
day they shifted. They had the new channel numbers up and some other
data up during when the shift happened.

A step in the right direction.

I agree. I don't lock out channels because usually someone calls and
says 'turn it over to' and just my luck I'd have the channel locked
out.

I also do walk the dog here and there. Which is now why The Beat is in
my preset list. :)

Sirius should have used the opt in thing for Stern, Maximum, Cosmo as well
as Raw Dog.. Only those that want the programing would turn it on.

Sirius can keep a more accurate count of Playboy listeners is another
advantage. Listener Numbers may tell it Playboy merits future band space.

When you sign up you can request the family friendly tier instead of
the full tier, which basically takes out things like Hot Jamz, Raw Dog,
Shade 45, Stern, Maxim, etc.

I think they did opt-in for Playboy specifically because it's a company
name that has a severe stigma and preconceived notion. While Stern is
defined as a 'shock jock' to most, people who have never listened to or
watched his show on TV may have no idea what he is all about.

I think that helps, but I don't think having opt-ins for every little
thing would be helpful. I tend to check out different streams at
random times but even for free some people may never opt-in to channels
they don't think will interest them, even though the content may
actually be of interest.

If the current buzz regarding Playboy Radio is indication, it may have
been a good content gain. I don't think it'll drive many new
subscribers but it's another option of something on the dial and could
be sound for marketing.

Yes Playboy worked so good at XM that they dropped it and Sirius picked
it up, I don’t think they want to know the numbers same as Stern’s
listener ship, they really don’t want to know or they could figure out
they made a mistake?

XM's version of Playboy Radio was mostly TV audio feeds, not actual
radio programs. Also, it was a premium service for 3$ a month, not
included in the base price.

Apples and oranges.

I was expecting to hear the same thing I heard when it was on XM, and I
subscribed to Playboy radio for one month to hear what it was like. I
subsequently cancelled after the month was over, however for the time
there after which I had XM, they never did take it out of my lineup,
although taking it off of my bill. It was shows from the TV channel,
like --- Court. Who wants to listen to --- Court? Even the live shows
they had sucked.

I was suprised when I listened to it on Sirius that it's actually pretty
good! The significant other actually turned up the volume to give it a
better listen. She didn't know it was the Pboy channel until they said
so. I don't think she would have given it a chance given the stigma the
Playboy name has for many. We listened to Nightcalls at 6:15am eastern
(7:45am local time) this morning and Afternoon Advice this, well,
afternoon and it was actually interesting. Neither of us really listen
to talk radio programs on a regual basis, but we might start now. Never
thought I'd say it but so far, four thumbs up for Playboy Radio.
