Let's be serious. Nobody who is really interested in college basketball is
going to be listening on the radio. That's just stupid.
The strategy of trying to cover sports that are hugely covered on TV when
everyone who cares will be watching it is stupid.
It is the same freaking assinine thought process that makes you guys think
NFL is great radio. It isn't. It will never be.

So many people are going to be listening to PGA Tour Golf on the radio
though, because XM has it. If Sirius had it it'd be stupid. Welcome
to Frontmed's world.

Apparently it was important enough for XM to get some of the College
Sports content but not all of it.. Sour grapes? Absolutely.

MLB is great on TV too. Heck, unlike NFL, you can get every single
game of MLB on TV for a nominal yearly fee through Sports InDemand.
You can only get NFL on DirecTV.

I believe XM's coverage of PGA was done, in part, to sell portable
receivers. As you know, Sirius doesn't have a portable receiver, so Sirius
surely wouldn't have "done it".

I think it was necessary for XM to retain its sports leadership. That
doesn't mean I think it is great content.

I'm not going to have this argument with you again. You have shown time and
again you don't understand even the most fundamental concepts about the
subject. Stick with installing subwoofers.

It's more like you don't understand it. I also don't install
subwoofers, keep guessing, Frontmed. My job is a little more involved

Clear to whom?
People listen to MLB on the radio. They watch NFL games on TV. I think this
issue has been discussed by the media, on many message boards, and it seems
that only Siriots believe people listen to NFL on the radio.
Here are some quotes from the forum at fantasyfootball.com (these are
serious NFL fans, mind you):
fewtoomany - As for the NFL I have never been able to listen to a game on
the radio I make sure I'm home on Sundays to watch the gamesand if I didn't
get the team I wanted I would just go with Direct TV.
The_Oracle - I would look at both closely, but I went with XM based on the
MLB package. I really don't care for football on the radio, and am much more
likely to listen to something like Sporting News Radio where I can here the
stats of all my fantasy players. Subscriptions are similarly priced, though
it is interesting to note that XM is part owned by GM and Honda, as well as
projected to be a profitable company in 2006 (I believe Sirius is still
operating in the red). XM has twice the number of subscribers, and appears
to be more stable at the moment. My XM radio has a NASCAR station, as well
as ACC, BIG TEN, PAC Ten, and NHL. So really (if youre a sports fan) it
boils down to NFL vs. MLB. For me, I'll take Sunday Ticket for Football, and
my XM radio for MLB.
Guido - My GM car came with XM when I bought it two years ago. The stations
that have been added guaranteed my sticking with XM. As a NC State fan
living in Louisiana it's great having all of their football AND basketball
games. And as a baseball fan I love the MLB package that carries every
preseason, regular season and post season game. I really don't need NFL
games since I have Sunday Ticket and watch them.
Nutty - Thanks everyone. I decided to go with XM. They have more sports talk
radio stations and I am at home for the NFL games.
Elmaschingon - I hear Sirius is best for the NFL fan. (yes, it is). Music
slowly is fading from my life. I listen to Sportstalk ALL the time.
I'm wishing for a Sirius radio next CHRISTmas. Or maybe my next birthday.
Nutty - You better check their lineup. The reason I went with XM was because
of the lack of sports talk stations on Sirius. Sure they have the NFL, but
they only had ESPN radio. XM has ESPN, ESPNNews, FOXsports, SportingNews.
I'm sure there are a few on the other side of the fence. But the reality is
that people who are dedicated enough to NFL to want it on the radio are also
at home on Sunday to watch the game on TV.
Dedicated fans of MLB have no choice but to listen on the radio as the games
are not all on Sunday afternoon and people have to get things done. Aside
from that, NFL games are inherently hard to follow on the radio while MLB
games are easy to follow and by listening on the radio you can do other
stuff while the game moves at a reasonably slow pace.
MLB is perfect for the radio. NFL is perfect for the TV. Anyone who can't
see this is really not trying.

no, no one listens to golf, basketball, football, or Nascar. If they are
fans, they watch it on TV. Baseball is the only sport that you can listen
to and enjoy.

Take of your XM glasses and view the real world.
For example how the hell does someone view A GAME OF CHOICE ON TV
WHEN THEY ARE LOCATED out of a TV coverage zone.
Answer
They DONT
For example Sirius aired all NCAA final 4 games games today
Anyone living in North America could hear a game of choice even if they are
located at the arctic circle, Acapolca, Mx. NYC, LA, Bismark ND or even
Spotted Horse Wy.
Try that with TV...over the air, cable or Sat TV.
Cannot be done.

By the way - I'm thrilled you can copy and paste a few things that
support your argument out of many many posts out there on this topic.
There are men out there that think they actually deserve to have a say
in what women do with their bodies regarding parasites too. I'm sure
we could copy and paste opinions on both sides of that fence as well.
> I'm sure there are a few on the other side of the fence. But the reality is

That's great, you assume everyone has the ability to watch every game
that interests them. They only can do that if they have DirecTV. If
they are say, a San Francisco fan and they're in New England, they're
largely screwed. Those games are hardly ever on. Unless your team is
a large contender, you'd will see *0* games in a year. I'm lucky that
I'm a Patriots fan, but many people here aren't.
There's between 4 and 6 games on Sundays if you have cable, the same
(or less) if you have broadcast locals with an antenna.
Realize that MLB fans are generally home town fans too, and that NFL
fans are much more often diverse.
With this all in mind, AUDIO is still better than nothing especially
compared to the hefty cost of DirecTV and the NFL Sunday Ticket pack.
Also, people often listen to the hometown announcers while watching the
away TV feed.

MLB games are easy as hell to Tivo if you have the baseball pack which
is readily available on all Cable and Satellite MSOs.. NFL is not.
Let's not forget that the NFL is only available from DirecTV and many
people miss out on games because of blackouts and redirects on TV.
Only a select few games are available in any regional market. That
means here you're likely to see a Giants game or a Patriots game.
Let's not forget most MLB games during the week are at 7p too, which
people are generally home.

Thanks for your opinion. I live in a city without NFL, only the
University of Texas(2006 National Champions). I've listened to
tons of games on the radio, whether in my car, at home with the
tv on or at a game. Back when the Oilers were around, I'd do the
same.
I'm 44 so maybe only young folks that were raised in front
of a tv don't like football on the radio but you are wrong to
speak for the entire male population of the United States.
