I am new to free to air satillite, and I am wondering if there is a way to get free internet services[like direct way offers] with free to air equipment? if so what equipment is needed? i live in a area that is surrounded by corn fields is there any way I can get internet services? I doubt that dsl or cable will be around anytime soon and $400 in equipment and $100 a month is too much for directway.

thanks!

I am new to free to air satillite, and I am wondering if there is a way to get free internet services[like direct way offers] with free to air equipment? No. FTA TV is either watching feeds that are being sent to third parties or watching channels designed to support themselves through viewers. For these services, there is no incremental cost for adding another viewer.

Internet service requires bandwidth, and each additional user adds to the required bandwidth. I suppose it's theoretically possible for an ad-supported free satellite internet service, but for now the economics won't support it.
