I posted a similar question on the Canadian forum but there have been no replies, perhaps someone here has the answer.

StarChoice uses 2 satellites for its signals, Anik A & B (I think). StarChoice supplied many users with an elliptical dish which works OK for most of Canada but it is very difficult to point (acquire a usable signal) in the southern US and many Snowbirds have complained about the problem. Supposedly the reason for using 2 satellites is to provide customers with the full spectrum of TV programming IE analog or HD as well as an array of French language channels.
I am a RVer and live in a motorhome in Texas six months of the year. I use a tripod and a long cable to get the signal to my rig. StarChoice also supply a small semi elliptical dish similar to some used by DirecTV for Canadians in strong signal areas.
I wonder if a larger diameter same style dish would work for me too, this type of dish could be mounted on the roof of my RV. StarChoice never provide a direct answer to complaints or questions about their dishes so I am asking here, would a semi-eliptical dish with a KU frequency lnb be able to acquire the Anik signal in South Texas?

Don't know where you hear such talk. I sell canadian starchoice in the us and have customers from the carolinas to texas to several in california. All get a good signal with a 75cm - 30" dish. check out www.starchoiceinusa.com.
