Hello, I have been a DirecTV customer for about 7 years now and I think I'm finally ready to make the switch to High Definition, as they now offer the locals in my area in High Def through DirecTV.

I have figured out my needs are going to be 2 HD DVR receivers, and 3 regular HD receivers, as well as the dish.

My questions:

1. Can I order the receivers and dish through DirecTV - taking advantage of the rebates - WITHOUT having them come out to my house to do the install for me? I have a 3rd party company that I want to use for the install for a multitude of reasons.

2. Do I need to replace any of the cables I currently have running through my house?

3. I currently have a dual LNB dish running 2 cables to an 8-way distribution splitter. Will I need a new splitter, and if so, will it work exactly the same way?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

you will have to check with dtv about coming out ... not sure about that ... you might be able to get the equip from the installer also ... with rebeates ... check on it ...

you will need 2 more lines run from the dish to your switch .. new switch is needed... 6 x 8, wb 68 switch for the new dish..as for as replacing existing wiring ... if it is rg 6 you should be ok ..the new dish uses freqs 250 t0 2150 ... new switch can handle this freq range .. you can not diplex cable or local ant on these lines for hd receivers
