As a former employee at HALSTED COMMUNICATIONS I feel its my responsibility as a good person and man of God to warn all LONG ISLAND NY present and future customers of DIRECTV that this company is a disaster to work for or have work done by. Their lack of training, customer service and equipment failure is appaling. I stayed long enough to get enough experience to realize I did not want to be a part of such a horribly run company so I can move to another state and work for a much better, more professionally run company than HALSTED COMMUNICATIONS located in RONKONKOMA L.I. NY. First off their office is run by high school drop outs that make light of the fact that they are computer illiterate. The equipment is thrown around in the warehouse and most of which is not working when installed by techs or soon after has operating problems. Most techs are outsourced subcontractors that cut corners in the installation process that ultimately leads to signal loss and eqiupment failure. The reason they can get away with this is because of the high demand for DIRECTV over local cable company that has become way too expensive.
Make sure installer completes installation correctly.
1) Dish must be secured properly to roof. 2) Lines from dish are to be secured to roof and outerwalls of house to a 2 way or 4 way ground block that is to be grounded to a ground connected to your electric service. 3) Then lines from ground block go to a 3,4 or 8 way splitter depending on how many tvs you will have with a DTV reciever. 4) lines must be run without connectors to each reciever. If you have a DVR install (Tivo) it requires 2 lines so you can record a program while watching others at the same time. If you make sure this is done correctly you will have a proper install, if not you will have problems very soon afterward. Please pass this thread on to all to insure that all futur installs are done correctly especially if you live on Long Island NY.
