Does anyone have any new information on the release date for DTV's new HD-DVR? I recently purchased a HDTV and I'm waiting on updating my current Hugh's DVR to the newest DTV's HD-DVR. I've been told by Circuit City people and others, that the release date was going to be Mid-Spring, then Mid-May. Any additional info would be helpful in deciding to go with "off the shelf" stuff, or waiting for the new toys.

Stay with any provider except Dishnetwork. There customer service is incompetent. You save a few bucks and then you have to deal with a terrible levle of service at every are of the comapny.

Watchout for the new HD/DVR combo HR15 from directv its a real piece of junk! They break down all the time.Lots of customer complaints about audio cutting out and black out screen while recording. U Have been warned!

they scrapped the hr15 the new one thats supposed to come out this jan is the hr20

Lastest communication from DTV is the following:

By mid-2006, we'll start to introduce an HD-DVR that will be MPEG-4 and will get HD locals from satellite, when available in your area. We will have an offer to replace your HD-DVR with a new MPEG-4 HD-DVR. I apologize, but at this time we have not been provided specific details of the offer.

More details will be available as we get closer to adding this receiver in your area, so watch your local TV, radio or mailbox for upcoming announcements or visit DIRECTV.com/HD for the latest news.


Still no date and no new info on upgrade path. I'll wait it out.

the hr20 will be out in oct. just last week the date was pushed back

I just spoke to a rep. of Directv and was told there WOULD be $$$ consideration for an upgrade path to the newest HD-DVR box, although details were not known at this moment. Having heard/said that I will be upgrading to the present HD-DVR box and hoping for the best when the latest/greatest becomes available. More to follow.................
