Okay, I've had Sirius for over a year now. Let me qualify this by saying that I primarily got Sirius for the music. My commute is long and nasty and I thought Satellite radio could help. I'd become frustrated with our local radio stations (like many others) who seemed to play the same songs and groups over and over. (and have been doing this for several years)
The first station I gravitated to was the Vault. After all, they ADVERTISE that they have the deepest library on the planet and that they make full use of it. After a few months I noticed that I'd hear pretty much the same songs and bands each morning during my drive to work...and the reverse going home in the afternoon. This was/is really, really irritating.
I probably hear one or two tracks in afternoon that would really be considered deep. The rest are just rehashing the greatest hits albums.
Example: Lynard Skynard- Needle and the Spoon. I hear this song at least 5 or 6 times a week.
Eric Clapton - Blues Power, holy crap, they play this song too freakin much
Led Zeppelin, pretty much everything, the Vault plays Zepp almost once an hour. They might as well have an all Zeppelin channel. I was sitting with some friends listening to Sirius last weekend and they were like, "man they play alot of Led Zeppelin whats the deal?".
Jethro Tull - Cross Eyed Mary, are you kidding me? This is a classic rock radio staple.
Deep Tracks my ass. I call it false advertising. They call themselves the vault after all, if their library is as big as they say it is, it doesnt seem like they are utilizing it.
I've emailed them numerous times but all they say is "well it just seems like we repeat songs so often because we are commerical free..." What a crock.
Also Pat St. John sucks. This guy really just plays the same 6 or 7 bands over and over again. Sorry Pat, we are not all from the Woodstock generation.
I'm just really frustrated since I'm shelling 13 bucks per month and I just don't think the programming is that much better for the money.
Anyone else tired of the repition on Sirius? I'm thinking about switching to XM or Cancelling.
