I bought a 2006 Ford Escape with the satellite capabilities about a month ago. For a whole month I have been trying to figure out how to activate it. I called Sirius and they need an ESN number, the dealership didn't provide me with one and I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas how or where I can find this or do I need a kit through Ford? The dealership was no help what so ever.

Does it have Sirius integrated in the radio and an atenna installed on the outside of the vehicle? "Satellite capabilities" is a bit vague, but I would assume all the necessary equipment is in there already...
ESN number should be able to looked up on the radio and displayed on the readout...at least the ones ive dealt with. Try messing with the menu/Sirius options and there should be a way to select the ESN (electronic serial number) and have it displayed. If that doesn't work, call Ford and they should be able to help by looking up the vehicle's VIN number...and if they won't help, tell them you will bring the vehicle back and file a complaint against them....should get some results. If all else fails, take the radio out of the dash and look on the back of it.

I honestly don't know if I have an antennae. And the dealership claims they don't know either. They said my satellite antennae should be incorporated with my normal antennae. If I hit buttons 1 and 6 it said retrieving ESN, but I never get it. And when I hit the satellite button, it just says no satellite. I called the dealership but once again they know nothing. You said call Ford, do they have a direct number. i'd love to call and complain.

Not sure if the corporate office will help, but I'd try if all else fails...800-392-3673 (tell them you'll buy a toyota next time if they wont help)
Maybe I am a little behind the times, but I havent dealt with a satellite antenna integrated with the regular antenna. The satellite antenna can be integrated WITH THE REGULAR ANTENNA INPUT (but they are still seperate antennas), which cuts out interference from other FM frequencies broadcasting in the same bandwith. If you have an antenna, it should be a little raised box on the roof, usually in the middle and and just above the rear window. Dont give up....its not SIrius's fault that Ford had their head up their a**. Sirius is a fantastic service that I will never be without.
You may even consider scrapping the service that is dependant upon the vehicle's radio...with it you can only listen to Sirius in your car. I recommend getting a plug and play unit (i.e. Sirius SPortster). That way you can put docking stations in other vehicles you have and also in your home and can transfer the receiver to each (and listen to Sirius in all your vehicles and in your home). That way you are not limited to having it in just your one vehicle.
Hope this helps!!

I already have an home unit and love Sirius. I just thought it would look better than having a unit mounted on my windshield, I had that in my truck and it cracked the windshield after a while. I'm close to just installing that device in my Escape. I still think I have to buy a kit but my dealership has no clue what to do. I'm calling corporate on Monday to raise hell. Thanks again.

Don't mount on windshield....unscrew part of docking station and just have the flat part...mount it with velcro on the dash...and there you go!
