Hd Dvr

I am looking to upgrade to the DIrecTV HD receiver. I currently have the DVR and would like to keep it. DO I have ti upgrade to the HD DVR receiver or can I use my current DVR? The HD DVR's are so expensive, does anyone know how I can get one cheaper? Any help would be appreciated.

the hd dvr's have come down ... from 1000 to about 450 now ...
may have rebate too ... not sure ..
