My receiver just died. It used to fail and I was using a cassette adapter. I
would eject the cassette adapter and reinsert it and it would work again.
Now that doesn't work anymore. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what
is wrong with it and if it is worth fixing. I bought it refurbished from
Ubid so I have no recourse except to fix it or replace it. Thanks.

Sounds more like there's something wrong with your cassette adapter or
your tape deck. You might want to try turning on the built in FM
modulator and see if you can get Sirius that way. If it works, you
might want to take a trip out to Best Buy and grab a Sony-brand
Cassette adapter.. They're about 20 bucks. It's what I use with my
Sirius unit.
Worst case if the cassette adapter doesn't fix the problem then you can
usually return it.
Just to put it in perspective, the Starmate Replay is going for about
49 bucks after rebates. You'd still need to buy a cassette adapter if
you didn't want to use the built in modulator, but it is otherwise a
very nice unit.

No modulator. I suggest you use it for a hockey puck and get a ONE
for $40.

Brilliant. I had an extra car kit and tried the cassette adapter and it
worked. Thanks.

The cassette adapters tend to fuzz out eventually due to the cable
becoming crimped, flexed or broken internally. Glad you had a spare
just to try and that it worked out.
