I see there is a guide on this site about changing the hard drive and it looks like its a direct swap. I also see guides that say you have to hack the machine for it to accept the drive.
Which is the right way to make a new drive work in a DVR 501? I have no means to hack my machine and would like the direct swap directions to work. Are those directions for certain models and the hack for other models?
