Hello, I am new to free to air and the options available. But I like what I hear about it, sounds better than cable in the sense that you don't have to pay for channels that you don't want or watch. Any way I am very interested in it and would please like some help from anyone who has it and has feedback. I would like to know the best possible set up and realistically how many channels you can expect to receive(any movie channels?) and so on. I am from the eastern united states(massachusetts). Thank you in advance for any help.

What channels are you interested in? I am assuming you are talking about a Ku band setup? Most of these systems are set up using a small stationary dish pointed at 1 or 2 sats. Many people use these to hack signals off of the subscription services using modified software files although most are not working at the moment. If you want to go to true Free To Air there are channels brodcasted in the clear on a few sats. Mostly foreign language channels and the major network feeds and a few others. In order to maximize you reception of these channels I would suggest that you get a larger motorized dish that you can swing from sat to sat unless you want several smaller staionary ones. A good guide to seeing what channels are in the clear can be found at Lyngsat.com
