I want to plug this in while in my house, but there are no power requirements
listed. How much amperage does this thing need? I tried a 12v 700ma ac
adapter but it just freezes up while using it so I assume it needs a bit
more juice.Any ideas?

I also wanted to add that NO specifications are listed in the manual
otherwise I would have used them. This info seems to be nowhere on the
internet.

It may need an amp, but that is probably not the issue. Those wall
warts may not be clean enough (more AC than DC in other words) The
simplest thing to do is to get a cheap power supply from like radio
shack that will let you plug your car cord into it and power the unit
just like it was powered in your car. The cheap 3A jobs will work well.
Not sure if the car cord is stepping down the voltage to the radio,
which could be the other issue as most of the sat radios run on 5V to 7V
and not really 12V as the adapters they send can reduce the voltage down
to the radio.

It's my understanding the newest Sirius receivers like the Visor use 5 volts
DC. Older
units use 12 volt DC. The power cord OR the Visor reduces the voltage to 5
volts.
Best way to find out is plug the cord in and check the output with a volt
meter.
I use a 120 AC to 12 volt DC power supply a home that includes a cigarette
lighter receptical

It's definitely 12VDC.

Thery use about 1.2 Amp, Because I bought one them few month back from
Walmart was on sale. I use that one for my Sanyo radio and works fine so
far.
