I need help wiring my system. I live in Canada but have access to a one receiver Direct tv system. I can only have ONE DTV receiver. BUT I want to run the signal to three tv's. I just built a new home theatre so I want to have the DTV receiver in the theatre room. Here is where the problem arises. The new DTV HD receivers don't have a regular satellite or cable wire output to go to another tv. I only have a satellite type wiring running to the upstairs of my house which links up the theatre room with the other two tv's. My buddy had one of those cheap rf modulator things but it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.

the rf mod would be the way to do it ... but ...some recvrs done send a signal out if you are watching the program in HD 720 or above ... try 2 things ... first set the resol output to 480 .. if that dont do it ...you might need a better mod or a amp to go with it ... but you should be able to do it that way ...

He is correct. Depending on the model HD recvr you have, you likely will not have simultaneous output of both HD and SD. Try it at its lowest output level, 480i. Try disconnecting the component video/dvi/hdmi cable and only connect the analog (yellow RCA) to the RF Modulater and then see if you can find it upstairs on channel 3 or 4. The modulater will only work if it senses signal. You don't have any Cat5 upstairs? Anotherwords, your outlet is CATV only? ie: coaxial, there is no phone or network cable? I'm thinking that cuz there is a way to avoid using the rf mod by converting the coax to rca but you'd need an audio feed as well either w/ cat5 or cat3. But this is all a mute point if your recvr doesnt do simultaneous out. You *may* be able to get an A/V receiver that will down-convert HD to SD (standard def). Obviously the rf mod idea is the simplest :) There is also those cool lil 'wireless' audio/video feeders i've seen at RadioShack.
