Hi- I bought a sirius starmate ST1 just to use in my car. It worked awesome for the first week, then on a road trip out of stae it started cutting in oan out, no big deal, it was raining hard and very cloudy. Th enext day when it was sunny out, it woudl not pick up a signal. Then it did, it worked on and off fo rth enext 2 weeks (more off than on). Then it just stopped getting signal. It just says "acquiring signal" I called th esirus support lines numerous times and everytime i did the unit would start working, then it would quit the next day.

Went to Circuit city and they said I need a new antenna for $40, so I figured I would try my buddies antenna from his starmate (his works perect all the time). His antenna made no improvement for me.

This is horrible. I have hade th eunit a little over 1 month and am regretting ever buying Sirius.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I had that problem with a subbed XM radio I bought at Fleabay.

Worked GREAT for all of a day and a half, then dead. The seller gave me a full refund.

It's a throw-away, economically; would cost way more to fix than to just buy another. Maybe you could get the seller to give you a refund.

I've since bought 4 subbed Sirius radios, again at Fleabay, and no problems.

The original series of Starmate receivers are of EXTREMELY poor quality. Unlike satellite television, clouds and rain should not affect your reception.

I would recommend returning the receiver and getting a Sportster model. My roommate bought an original Starmate and had problems...then took it back and got a SPortster and all was great.
