I know this is an unconventional connection type, i.e. most installations suggest connecting each individual cable out of the satellite dish to each receiver. However, the original installation only ran a single cable out of the dish and i'll at most ever want to connect two receivers. Is there no way to connect a 21 switch to the single cable out of the dish and be able to have both receivers function? Is their a restriction if i do this that i won't be able to have both receivers on at the same time? (thats not a huge problem)

If this isn't feasible is my only alternative to only run a second cable from my dish to a 42 switch? (this is extremely painful for me to pull the second cable from the dish through the house at this point).

I'd appreciate any suggestions/workarounds to not running this second cable.

I had two receivers connected via multiswitch to a single LNB StarChoice dish for years without a problem. When I switched to HD - I have 2 HD receivers, 1 upstairs and another in the basement family room - the installer put in a new quad-LNB dish and ran seperate cables to each receiver. When I asked about it, he told me that the multiswitch was incompatible with HD signals. If your receivers are SD, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you use a good quality multiswitch.
