Well I tried to do everything by the books but to no satisfaction so now I need some help.
I live in St. Joseph, MO and we are not elligible for any locals through Directv. I put an antenna up and am not able to receive any locals (abc, nbc, cbs, fox, wb/cw).
In Kansas City, MO (which is about 55 miles away) they are able to get locals through Directv.
If I know someone in Kansas City and they are willing to let me use their address how do I go about it so I can get locals at my house?
Any help would be great, thanks.

Assuming you allready have Directv. Get yourself another directv receiver. Unless you already have one that is NOT activated. I'd suggest buying an 'open-box' recvr at circuitcity/best buy, however sometimes they ask you what account its going to be activated on, I guess you can tell em its gonna be a new accnt. Or you can buy one on ebay but those tend to not have access cards, you'll need one of those. A P5 acess card. Then just simply activate the receiver using your 'friends' address as a new account. tell them the dish was pre-existing or you installed it, well you probably dont have to give them much detail, just tell them its installed. Now if your friend already has directv then simply add the box to his account. By adding to his account, you pay him $5 a month for it, if you activate a new account, obviously you'd be paying for a full programming account. Naturally one that is the minimum programing package (do the still offer SelectChoice? [$32.99]). That package would include locals and voila, you have ONE reciever w/ KC locals. Assuming your not more than 200 miles from K.C., you should still be in the KC Spotbeam. There is no other way unless for some strange reason you are eligible for DNS service. Scan the Directv website for "DNS" and see if you qualify.
The only other way would be to check here: allamericandirect.com and see if you qualify for Distants thru them (course w/ that you'd need a different dish and reciever). The only other option would be to (if you have the means) buy an RV. With an RV your eligible for a 'waiver' to get DNS Service.

I have ordered the service but have not had it installed yet nor has either of the 2 receivers been activated. Does this help? Can I just change my billing address through them for a different address after the account is opened to a KC address and pay my bill online?
Thanks in advance.

well if your installing it yourself than thats fine, but if your having installers come out then there going to know your address is not in KC. Billing address and service address are 2 differnt things. You can have a different billing address but you service is assigned to your 'service address'. Which would be where they installers will go.

I am a four year installer and a directv dealer it takes not just another adress it takes another account, so the best way to go about that is ONLY if you have astounding credit you can make a bogus account in another city even state. but new accounts require a new ph# ss# and adress

to clarify, cancel your appointment. cancel everything then call them up and say you live at your buddy's address and that you are going to install yourself so that way all your receivers get the local channels (once activated). pay through the web and get the mail from your buddy just for record keeping. make sure you know how to do the install yourself though.
