I recently purchased a pre-owned 2006 VW Passat. It has installed an XM-ready radio and a Delphi-Delco XM satellite module (mounted in the trunk). I've been a Sirius user for 3 years and after trying XM for a few days I decided XM just doesn't cut it and I have to get back to Sirius somehow. It's very strange, the VW owner's manual and the 2006 Passat service manual indicate Sirius is an option for this car. However no one at two dealerships where I inquired, and no phone reps at the VW America 800 number, can explain how Sirius would be implemented. One phone rep even called me back to report that all I have to do is remove the XM unit from the car and replace it with a corresponding Sirius unit, that the dashboard radio will carry either service. But again, I was stonewalled when I asked who would be the provider of the Sirius unit, or what is the VW part number. An online rep at Delphi didn't relate to my inquiry at all and I got no help from Delphi. At one point I read a forum comment on some Web site that a Sirius unit is definitely available in Canada. The trunk-mount is quite accessible and would be simple to replace. Although the radio lead connectors are apparently uniquely Delphi-Delco and I don't think a subsitution of a JVC, Kenwood or Alpine unit is possible. So it would be great if anyone could provide good info on this particular issue.
