Will signal strength, around 70, have any effect on not being able to receive signals on a rainy day? I lose my signal when it starts to rain. Would a highter signal stop the losses? Is this normal? The local channels are not as bad.
I have the dish 500 on 110 and 119 with the duel 322 tuner.

l;ook at it like this ... if yior threshold is 50 (cutoff point)

when it rains you loose 25 points ... lets say ...

25 from 70 is 45 ... lost signal

25 from 90 is 65 ... still ok ...

you see... the higher ... the better...

but if it is the best ... then it is all you can do ... if you have los & is pointed the best ... then you cant do better

Now that you have answered my question. I have a strength meter and a little mechanical ability. Will there be a problem of resetting the dish to get the signal a little higher. Not sure if it was peaked at installation or not.
What are the problems with the adjustments? Will the strength meter at the dish be sufficient for improving the signal?
Give me any other info that may help a newbee.
Thanks.

wont hurt to check ...

before lossening any bolts ... put your meter on or in line & view your reading ...
whlie watching your meter ... push or pull your dish to the left slightly ... then to the right slightly ..the pull down .. then up ... all the time looking at the meter but not actually moving the dish ... just flexing it ...

if you see an increase in signal which ever way you pull it ... then you might do better to move it in that direction ...if you have the highest signal already ... then dont move it ...

before loosening any bolts ...mark your settings ...

also make sure the pole is plumb to the ground ...& check your setting already set too ...if tilt is set & pole is plumb, leave it ...

remember ...if you have a multi sat dish ... check all you sats on the recvr...
