View Full Version : Getting ready for install: questions on switch

(In my effort to be sure I have all the wiring ready for the install, I placed a call to the customer service line with some technical questions.... well, you can guess how that went. So here I am..)

I am getting Dish Network installed in a couple weeks and have the following going in:

DVR #625 and recevier #322 (Both are dual tuner). I will be running 2 TV's off each tuner. (The paired TV's are relatively close so the UHF remote should be fine, I hope..)

I have 2 coax and telephone available at each receiver install point.

I am used to seeing a SW21 or SW64 switch making 1 line to the input side of the receiver, but these boxes look to have 2 inputs (1 for each LNB?)

So, with the current setup, (i assume each LNB will have two outputs), 1 connection off each LNB will go to receiver 1 and the 2nd connection to receiver 2. Then a diplexer used on one of the LNB lines on each receiver to piggy back the 2nd tv.

Am I correct in my thinking?

Should I install a switch (to do the same as a legacy SW64) to use 1 input per receiver so I can use the second coax to feed the 2nd tv?

Many thanks for any replies...

if the lnb is dpp... you can use 1 line for both inputs with a separator ... then you can use the second coax for the feed out to the second tv at each recvr locatipon ...

if just dp ... then you will be doing it something like you said & use the diplexers
