View Full Version : How many coax needed for single TV?

I'm considering Dish Network but I only have a single coax going to the TV set. There's really no way to run an additional coax, but I see there are two coax inputs on the dish boxes (at least the DVR ones). I'm only going to be driving a single TV. Do I need two cables back to the dish in order to get all channels offered on Dish Network (to the DVR and to my single TV)? If the antenna is really pointing to two different satellites at once I could imagine needing two cables to get all the channels (or maybe there's a way to combine both signals onto a single cable).

Also, do I need a telephone connection even if I don't want any PPV? We don't have an analog phone line in the house, so that wouldn't be available at all.

Thanks,
Jay

All you need is 1 coax input on your tv.
There is only 1 coax output on the dvr.
The 2nd coax port you see is an input for a off air ant or cable tv.
So you will be fine.
You can still use the dvr without a phone line.

The dish 500 does point at 2 satellites(110 and 119) but this is done by just one dish.
There is only one line that comes from the dish to the receiver box.
I recommend a DNS tech install the system
