Hi- I have an installation coming in a week, my place is prewired coax.

Is it possible to run only one wire to the DirecTivo receiver? I have little use for the dual tuner feature, I'll almost never be watching something while taping another thing. I'd rather not have to run a new line just to have that dual-tune capability. Is it possible to use only the single existing line in the walls?

Thanks from a noob.

As long as you don't want to watch one and record one. or record2 shows at a time one cable will work fine. however after you have tour dvr you might find that you wish you had those fetures. if running another cable is not an option you could just hold in thereand wait for a SWM (single wire multiswitch). Directv is currently testing SWM's that will alow newer receivers like the hr20 to work with just one coax and have all its functions like dual tuners.

That single wire switch sounds just about perfect for my purposes. I'd hate to run an extra wire outside the house, and I may move the main television in the future.

Thanks for the answer!
