Film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has announced that they will launch its first domestic movie channel on DirecTV offering MGM films in high definition.
The HD channel, which is coming this fall, marks completion of a long term goal for MGM, launching a domestic channel in the U.S. MGM currently has branded channel available in over 120 countries around the world.
MGM has over 4000 movies in its vast library, which includes files from Orion and United Artists. Of this, over 1200 have been converted to high definition so far.
MGM is also currently in negotiation with other satellite and cablevision companies to carry the channel in the near future.
