Hi,

Did a self install on Directv Five LNB Slimline, using a HD DVR HR20-100S. Tested and signal was great, everything worked great.

Then. . . my wife and I wanted to move it to a new spot. .. so we cleared the tree obstruction and moved and repointed the dish. Now only getting the "searching for signal. . ." Tried everything (rebooting the receiver, checking cables, double-triple-checking the pointing of the dish, etc. Nothing.

So then moved it back to the original spot, only we're still getting the same problem.

In testing the signals we're only getting zeros and a lack of signal on any satellite. Not even a blip anywhere.

My question: is it normal to get zeros for signal tests on all satellites if the dish is pointed slightly off, or does the presences of all zeros and picking up no signal at all point to a different problem? I believe I have the dish pointing to the same elevation, azimuth and tilt as before (and that is recommended by Directv for zip 43085) when it was working fine. i would think we would at least be picking up a something.

Appreciate any help. thanks

(my wife and I wanted to move it to a new spot), dude, you are busted, just come clean & admit it. You DID NOT want to move it. If you were single, you would be sitting in front of your tv, in your underwear, with a beer, watching YOUR shows, instead you are cutting down healthy trees & being "bitch slapped".

Hmm....First even if your pointed in the right direction if your mount is not level you will get a low or no signal at all...Also...If you made new cable ends for the new mount location make sure that the ends clean and not shorting out...Check the cable at the dish, box, and if you have it the grounding point....Even if you already have....To have no signal at all even though as you say you are pointed in the right direction is most likely a cable problem...after you are 100% sure its not cable.....The next best step is to get a professional installer to come look at it.....Good luck and I hope this helps

I don't know if you resolved the problem.

Here is a possible explanation:

Make sure that your mast is at 90 degrees.

The dot inside the top of the mast must be at dead center.

Also make sure that the side of the mast is at 90 degrees.

Since moving the dish you may not have put it back in the exact same way.

I wasted a lot of time on the ladder because my mast shifted a fraction of an inch.

That's enough to lose the signal.

I don't know know what the rest of your setup is but unless you unplugged the multiplexer or something like that, you should be getting a signal.

Hope that you get it going soon.

OK I will ask a stupid question. Did you disconnect the cables at the back of the receiver and inadvertently re connect the cable to the RF out instead of the SAT in. Not that I ever did anything like that.
